How to Configure Background in Teams

When using Microsoft Teams for video meetings, you may want to customize your background to hide your real surroundings or add a professional touch to your virtual presence. In this article, we will guide you through the process of configuring your background in Teams.

### Step 1: Start a Video Meeting

To begin, start a video meeting on the Microsoft Teams app. This will bring up the intermedia screen, where you can customize your background settings.

### Step 2: Select Your Background

On the intermedia screen, toggle on the first and second switches to push the virtual background live. The participants in your meeting will now see the selected background.

To select a background, click on the drop-down menu next to 'Select background' and choose from one of the following options:

* None: This option shows the real background of your recording location.

* Slight blur: This option slightly blurs the background of your recording location.

* Blur: This option fully blurs the background of your recording location.

* Show split-screen: This option displays a split screen as the background of your recording location.

* Preset graphic: Choose from one of the preset graphics to display as your background.

* Own background graphic: Use the 'Add background' feature to select one of your own graphics.

Clicking on any of these options will show you a preview of the video that others will see. Once you have selected your desired background, click 'Apply' to save your changes.

### Setting a Default Background

To set a default background while in a Microsoft Teams meeting:

1. Click on the More or three dots at the top.

2. Select 'General'.

You can use virtual backgrounds during video transmission to hide the real background that would otherwise be showcased to the Classroom participants.

Remember, you can always change your background during a meeting by going to the meetings controls, selecting More actions, and clicking on Apply background effects.
